IS101: Skills for the Future

In my experience in IS101-3005, at the beginning of the semester I honestly felt a bit nervous because I thought the course might be difficult or hard to keep up with. I was not sure if I would be able to adapt to the pace or understand everything easily. However, over time I got used to the class, and now I feel much more comfortable.

I actually found this course very interesting and enjoyable. What I liked the most is that it teaches real, practical skills that we can use in the future. It helped me learn how to create professional documents, presentations, and work with tools like Excel in a more organized and efficient way.

I also appreciated the classroom environment. It felt interactive, and my classmates participation made it easier to learn from different perspectives. The instructor was very supportive throughout the course, always willing to help and clarify any doubts, which made the learning process less stressful.

From Chapter 6.2.3 Presentation Management Facts, I strengthened my understanding of how to manage presentations effectively. I learned how to organize slides, duplicate or delete them when needed, hide slides, and group content into sections to create a better flow. These tools help make presentations more structured and professional.

Overall, this course helped me feel more confident working with technology. I believe the skills I gained from the instructor, the course, and my classmates will be very useful in future classes and in a professional environment. I’m glad I took this course and I feel more prepared moving forward.

What I Learned in phase 2: Excel, URLs, and Real World Skills

During Phase 2, with Excel, even though I already had some basic knowledge, I feel that I am now understanding much better how to use its functions correctly. I realized that knowing how to use these tools is like having a shortcut, because it allows you to complete tasks in a faster and more efficient way. Identifying URLs was a bit easier for me, although it still has details that need to be learned. Regarding Assignment A6, at first I thought I understood it well, but during the WebEx with the professor, I realized that I still needed to improve several things, so I will pay more attention to make sure it does not happen again.

In Chapter 5.8.2, Chart Types, I learned that each type of chart has a different purpose, such as using bar charts to compare data, line charts to show changes over time, and scatter plots to show relationships between variables. In addition, it is not only about creating a chart, but also about choosing the correct one and organizing it properly so that the information is clear and easy to understand. Overall, I feel that I can now work faster and more efficiently.

Outside of class, I can apply what I learned in Phase 2 in real-life situations such as organizing my personal finances, creating budgets, or analyzing data more clearly using Excel. I can also use charts to present information in a more visual way in jobs, projects, or even in other classes.

In Phase 3, I want to do my best to complete everything that is required, not just by doing the minimum, but by putting in extra effort. I want to improve my work so that it is more original and better organized. To achieve this, I will manage my time better and focus more on details in order to get better results.

Phase 1 Review and Paragraph Formatting Facts

In Phase 1 of IS101-3210, I think I did quite well. I tried to complete everything on time so I wouldn’t stress at the last minute, and this adaptation phase really helped me get used to the pace of the class and understand how LabSim works. I realized that planning ahead and organizing my time makes learning much more manageable, and I will definitely continue applying this method in the upcoming phases.

During lesson 4.4.5 Paragraph Formatting Facts, I learned how to format paragraphs effectively in Microsoft Word. This includes options such as alignment, bullets, numbering, indents, line spacing, and more. Understanding these features helped me improve my academic and creative documents, because now I can organize information clearly and professionally.

To prepare for the MO-110 Word certification exam, I plan to review all the chapters again, trying to understand them better. I will use the Skill Labs a lot for practice and focus on the topics I find most challenging. I believe that reviewing step by step and practicing the interactive activities will help me feel more confident and ready for the exam.

Overall, I really enjoy the class and the way we are learning. The methods we use, the activities in LabSim, and the structure of the chapters make learning Word more understandable and enjoyable. I am enjoying being able to apply what I learn in a practical way, and I hope to keep improving in the upcoming phases.

Starting IS101 at CSN

Hello everyone!

My name is Vania, and I am currently a student in the IS101 course. I really enjoy this course because I know it will help me improve my digital skills, which will be very useful for my professional career. What impressed me the most about IS101 is that the course is very well organized, which is extremely helpful for first-semester students like me who are just starting to use these new tools.

My experience using LabSim 1.3.2: Digital Communication Facts has been very helpful. This lesson helped me understand the different methods of digital communication, such as email, forums, texting, video calls, social media, and more. The methods I use the most are texting, social media, and email, which I use for both personal communication and college. This skill also helped me become more aware of online behavior, which is important for future work.

As a first-semester student, I am motivated to continue improving my technology skills and growing academically.
